I Won't Lie To You People

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 5, 2009, 12:05 AM
I won't kid myself and say I wasn't hurt by the reaction to my last piece of gift art. I had hoped it would have been something the person it was done for would have been really excited about.
But it seems I made the mistake of crossing the line with the lack of clothing it originally had.

This made me think twice about continuing with gift art. As I really don't wanna work so hard just to bother anyone else with my own version of what their characters are like in my own twisted and sometimes perverted eyes.

This is not to say I NEVER will, but just to be clear it might take me a while to regain my joy of doing random surprise art for people again.
I don't wanna have to fix something I worked so hard on and change it just to be told I have annoyed someone, or upset someone, or even disappointed anyone.

I do them for what they are called "gift" art.
At this point though I myself was a little upset to have said gift thrown back into my face and told they didn't like it, or the way I portrayed their characters.
It was kinda a let down.

But don't worry we both talked about it and that mistake won't ever happen again.
It was my fault for assuming everyone likes to be hot and sexay.

Some people are just...well, to put it politely, prudish. It's an unfortunate fact of life that there are quite a few people out there like that. Not everyone can be as open as you, I, or some of the people we know. In fact, some people are SO prudish that they tend to look down on people like us who are so open with our sexuality (and, at times, very sexual). So long as one doesn't cram their opinions down the others' throats, there's no real problem.

If they don't want to be grateful for all the hard work you put into it, just don't make any more gift art for that person in the future. I doubt they'll lose any sleep over the prospect of no more gift pieces from you.

I doubted that as well. They seemed really peeved at me and when I fixed it they were (seemed like) yeah uh thanks. I don't ever wanna do another gift art for them ever if I am to have to fix it to their liking....that's not a gift, that's a request or a commission. I did it this time to be nice.

I understand about the gift art. Some people don't like their characters contributing to one of the porn rules of the internet (even though according to those rules it's going to happen eventually anyway).

If the person doesn't make it clear in their writings how they feel about that stuff, I just usually right out ask them.

I think it was more cause I drew her in such a state before and she laughed it off. This time it wasn't as funny and I was asked to take it down fix it and post it. Since she didn't want people getting the wrong idea about her fursona.

Hmmm, well, I'm just glad you both settles things down :)

And your free to do whatever you want if you decide to do some gift art for me. Sure, it may make me feel uncomfortable if it's sexah or pornographic, but that just means someone took the time to draw a character of mine in such detail.
I may not like art because it's kinda weird or is fetish oriented, but I accept art as it is, since anything can be art in the eyes of anyone who enjoys it :)

I believe in Jesus Christ my Savior. If you do too and are not afraid to admit it, then paste this into your signature.

That's exactly it. Some folks, despite what they seem to think, just need to learn to be gracious about gifts arts... It's no longer a piece of "gift art" if you have to go in an "fix" whatever they don't like about it...

Well I understand the fact of not wanting to look like a complete slut, but I just wasn't thrilled with the reaction and it made me think twice about every wanting to do gift art again.
I hate disappointing people.

Agreed. I planned to write into my profile that I love gift arts but there are only 3 things I will not be drawn into.
